2nd International Conference "Computer Algebra", Moscow, October 30 - November 3, 2017

The 2nd international conference “Computer Algebra” will be held in Moscow from October 30 to November 3, 2017. The conference is co-organized by Dorodnicyn Computing Center, Federal Research Center “Computer Science and Control” of Russian Academy of Sciences (CCAS) and Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (RUE).

The 1st conference was held in the year 2016.

Location and Time

Conference meetings are to be held in two locations: CCAS building (40, Vavilova street, Moscow) and RUE building (36, Stremyany pereulok, Moscow). The registration of the participants will be started at 9:30 am on October 30, 2017 , the opening ceremony will be started at 9:50 am. All the meetings in the other days start at 10:00 am.

Main Topics

The two main topics of the conference are the following:

1. Open questions in computer algebra. In particular, the focus is on problems which as yet are still unsolved, but for which it is reasonable to expect that with concentrated research efforts they could be worked out in the near future.

2. Systematization (classification) of computer-algebraic tools. In particular, the goal is to propose principles for selection of appropriate computer-algebraic tools for solving concrete mathematical and applied problems.

Besides these two particular topics, the more traditional topics such as symbolic algorithms, mathematical software, and application aspects are discussed at the conference as well.

Conference Program

The conference is organised in sections:

  • Section 1 - Algorithmic and computational aspects of computer algebra. The focus of the topis is the improvement and optimization of the existing algorithms and methods for solving problems which require deep computer analysis of algebraic models arising in various knowledge areas: Markov process modeling, quantum algorithms modeling, investigation of difference schemes of an arbitrary order, and analysis of text data of huge volume.
  • Section 2 - Computer algebra in the problems of mathematical phisycs, various aspects of the theory of differential equations and the theory of special functions. This topic is devoted to overcome bottelnecks in solving the problems of modern mathematical phisycs and applied theory of special functions related to the insufficiency of the computational resources of the modern computer algebra systems. The new achievements are to be presented in solving the problems of dynamic systems theory, celestial mechanics and boundary values problems for ordinary and partial differential equations, which progress is highly dependent on the possibilities of the computer investigation of algebraic models.
  • Section 3 - Computer algebra in education. The topis is to present results which allow using computer algebra achievements in education, in particulat for the visualization and treating the complex data of huge volume.
