Graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (Faculty of Control and Applied Mathematics, Department of Mathematical Physics), and then completed his postgraduate studies at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and successfully defended his thesis for the degree of candidate (Ph.D.) of physical and mathematical sciences. Then successfully defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Physics and Mathematics (Dr. Sci.) on the topic "Methods for the direct solving the Boltzmann equation and their application to study rarefied gas flows". He is an employee of Dorodnicyn Computing Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (now part of the structure of the Federal Research Center "Computer Science and Control" of the Russian Academy of Sciences). From 2005 to 2017, he was the head of the subdivision of the kinetic theory of gases in this research center.

A member of the Russian National Committee for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.

A member of International Advisory Committee of Asian Conference on Computational Fluid Dynamics (ACFD).

Prof. Aristov is a specialist in the field of kinetic theory and computational fluid dynamics. His research track record and interests include direct methods for solving the Boltzmann equation, study of nonlinear nonclassical effects in the nonequilibrium flows, analytical and numerical methods in different areas of gas dynamics, rarefied flows, in particular turbulent phenomena, kinetic method in statistical physics for description dissipative structures.

Participated in numerous international projects in collaboration with researchers from France, Poland, Italy, USA etc. Participated in projects of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, led the project of the Russian Science Foundation 2014-2016 "Mathematical modeling of nonequilibrium structures in open systems using the methods of kinetic theory", now he is the project manager of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (2018-2020), 18-01-00899 "Construction of hybrid methods based on the Boltzmann equation and models of lattice gas".
