The method is based on visualization of two-criterion slices of the Edgeworth-Pareto Hull (EPH) of the criterion points, that is, the union of the domination cones with vertices located in the criterion points of the approximation. The objective tradeoffs for any three criteria that are specified by user are visualized in the form of the decision maps, which are collections of the overlaid two-criterion slices of the EPH. The influence of the other criteria can be studied by moving the sliders of the related scroll-bars. By this the user is informed on the objective tradeoffs and is supported in the process of the selecting the preferred efficient decision, which is carried out by direct identification of the feasible goal at the computer screen.
The software PFV was coded for the platforms MS Windows 98/NT/2000/XP. The criterion points must be prepared as a text file, which has a simple structure described in the Manual Demonstration version of PFV visualizes the Pareto frontier for up to five criteria and 1000 criterion points.
