                        Game stages

     1. Main Menu: You may choose to read information about the
game, input data for the game, or quit.

     2. After reading information about the game you must first
set the areas of both agricultural zones (in thousands of acres).
This defines the scale of production. The larger the agricultural
areas are, the more acute the environmental conflicts will
become.
The area setting is represented on the region map with
windows located on the agricultural zones. Use arrow keys to
choose the window. The window chosen will be colored red. Enter
the area (in thousands of acres) and press the <Enter> key. To
accept the areas given in the windows press "C" (continue). This
starts the Calculation procedure.

     3. When Calculation is finished, you will enter the VISual
ANalysis system. You will see a graphic picture of overlapping
colored images. Each image contains feasible values of water
level drop and pollution concentration for given grain-crops
production. Correspondence between color and the value of
production is given in the diagram beneath the graphic picture.
There is a cursor cross on the picture. The cross can be
moved along the efficient frontier by using the arrow keys. To
switch over to another frontier use [F3] and [F4].
Perhaps you would prefer to explore the problem from a
different viewpoint. You might prefer to use the color scale for
pollution abatement. To obtain the picture possessing this
property press [F2].
To chose a feasible goal use [F5].
It is convenient to use a mouse in the VISAN system. You
can move the cross along a frontier holding down the button and
moving the mouse marker. Instead of using F1, F2, F3, F4 and F5
keys you may click the mouse button inside the appropriate boxes
in the top-left corner of the screen.

     4. A decision is rendered in the form of the table or
diagrams on the region map.

     5. You will enter the main menu once again. You may now
enter new data, analyze the same pictures once more, or view once
more your decision or quit.
