PROTOTYPE OF FUTURE INTERNET RESOURCES

Preferable efficient strategies of further development of an agricultural region (see the map) must be developed.

User has to allocate the area of two agricultural zones among nine agricultural technologies and specity water release through the dam.

Three decision criteria are used:

We help to develop preferable strategies using simple operations.

SHORT INSTRUCTION

You'll see a picture of several differently colored slices of the variety of feasible goals. Two criterion values are given on axes (production and level), and the value of the third criterion (pollution) is given in color. Each slice contains feasible values of production and level for a certain value of pollution. Pictures of this kind are known as decision maps. The diagram (slide bar) beneath the decision map helps to understand how colors are related to the values of the third criterion.

There is a cross in the picture. It displays the current position of the feasible goal. The values of production and level are related to the coordinates of the cross, and the values of the pollution are displyed by slider. The current slice, i.e. the slice related to the goal, is marked by the black curve. In addition, the values of all three criteria are displayed under the combobox if CRITERION VALUES are selected in the combobox.

The the Feasible Goals Method, FGM, is applied here. It means that you have to identify a preferable feasible goal. To move the cross into the desired position you have first to specify a value of the third (color) criterion, and then of two other criteria. To specify a value of the color criterion, you have to use the slide bar. You can use slider to specify the value, or use arrows to change the value step by step, or use double arrows to animate the slice. Then, you can specify the values of the first two criteria by using marker (move it into the desired position on the current slice and click the left button of mouse).

You may want to change ranges of the criteria (select RANGES in the combobox). You may want to look on the feasible criterion values from different point of view (select ARRANGE in the combobox).

To identify the preferable feasible goal, press FIXATION in a preferable position of the cross.
