SECTION OF KINETIC THEORY OF GASES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICS

Head of the section - Dr.Sc.(Mathematics) F.G.Tcheremissine

Scientific staff:

Research activity is dated from 1965 when a group of young scientists working in gasdynamics and kinetic theory moved from the Institute of Mechanics of the USSR Academy of Sciences and engaged in computing of rarefied gas flows. From the beginning, the research was directed on construction of regular finite-difference methods for solving Boltzmann kinetic equation. Simplified kinetic model equations were used as a useful tool as well. As ingineering applications of the research one may indicate aerospace problems and some modern vacuum technologies.

Results of investigations are reflected in a number of publications in scientific journals and proceedings of International Symposiums on RGD.
