Kyoto Index, KITM

Kyoto Index (KITM) is measure of "ecological footprint" of an activity, industry, or any system, or system of activities on the environment. It is also a measure of "sustainability", which is defined as a "stopping or reversal of adverse effects that various human activities have inflicted on Earth and prevented self-regeneration. Sustainability implies that the system regenerates and continues functioning into a future.

The initial Kyoto IndexTM is being developed to evaluate the ecological footprint of various power plants and will serve to rank electric utilities by their impact on the environment and human health of populations around them, and also measure energy efficiency, conservation and workers management of those utilities.

We will extend the application of KItm to appliances, fixtures, houses, cities and anywhere we can look for ways to reduce energy and material expenditures and where we can do more for less.
